Technology has the potential to make life more sustainable, but how often does it really achieve that? Your smart device may have reduced the amount of paper-based products you buy, but does that make up for the environmental footprint of replacing it every year or two? And what about the act of recycling electrical equipment? Done well, it can provide employment opportunities and valuable resources. Done poorly, it creates further pollution.
